The Gateway Schools

Outreach and Partnerships

The mission of The Gateway Schools reaches beyond our own students and families. Outreach activities and educational partnerships allow ideas from our schools to be shared with a broader community. They also allow us to continue to develop our own ideas and practices.

Each year, the Schools host a presentation series that addresses aspects of learning disabilities for parents and educational professionals. These presentations are open to the public. To download our current Series Brochure, please click on the button below.

Outreach efforts also include members of The Gateway Schools' faculties presenting at workshops and conferences as well as working directly with other schools and organizations to promote an understanding of students with learning disabilities. For a list of these activities for the current school year, please click on the button below.

The Gateway Schools also have active student teacher and internship programs. Each year, we are pleased to host students from various colleges and universities who are pursuing careers in education and related fields. Our collaboration with these colleges and universities provides a tremendous opportunity for sharing the knowledge and understandings of our Schools with teachers and other professionals who will have the opportunity to work with students with learning disabilities in other schools one day.

The Gateway Schools also actively seek to establish partnerships with like minded organizations. Each of our partnerships is unique, based on local needs and resources. Our partnerships' successes depend on shared interests, clearly stated goals, mutual respect, and candor among all our partners. A consistent presence within the intended community, ongoing identification of additional resources, and ongoing evaluation in light of partnership goals provide data for planning, showing progress, and highlighting any challenge/problem that might arise. It takes careful planning and active leadership to build a successful partnership, and The Gateway Schools are up to the challenge when the right opportunity presents.
