The Gateway Middle School
Middle School Director
The Gateway School, a progressive NYC independent school for students with learning disabilities, seeks a passionate, dynamic and collaborative instructional leader to join our school community as the primary administrator for our middle school program (grades 5-8).
The Middle School Director's primary responsibility is oversight of the day-to-day operations of the middle school program, including all communications about and on behalf of the program. The Director provides curriculum direction for the program, supervises faculty teams and plans for and facilitates professional development. Additionally, the Director provides academic, social and emotional guidance to both students and parents. The Director works closely with the Assistant Director of the Middle School and reports directly to the Head of School.
The new Middle School Director will be joining a mission driven school community that includes supportive families, a collaborative and experienced leadership team, and talented faculty and staff. The ideal candidate will possess high energy, creativity and a commitment to special education in addition to strong educational leadership experience. Candidates must also demonstrate superior oral and written communication skills. The new Middle School Director will begin work at Gateway on July 1, 2012.
